This 1970s home in Preston Hollow was reimagined by sisters with a modern design

For real estate investors, listing agents and sisters Nadia Fakih and Sarah Fakih, this Preston Hollow property gave them the opportunity to design their dream house. Though the sisters haven’t lived in the home — it’s an investment property — they were involved in its redesign.

The sisters purchased the house, as part of a larger real estate investment group, when it was in disrepair. The home had been damaged when the October 2019 tornado tore through North Texas, they said. Sarah Fakih said that multiple people told them to tear it down and start anew — especially since much of the home had been picked through for materials — but the sisters decided to work with the remnants of the home.

“We bought this because we love the flow of it,” Sarah Fakih “The building, the house itself, has a lot of integrity. We didn’t want to tear it down.”

The home was originally built in 1976, and the renovations were completed in 2021, with a few cosmetic details that are still being finalized. The home has five bedrooms, six bathrooms and one half-bathroom in 5,840 square feet. The home has one level, and it sits on a 0.49-acre lot.

The home’s pivot-style front door sets the stage for its modern interior with clean lines and a minimalist color palette. There’s a formal dining room and a study near the front of the home that both have views of the neighborhood through multiple large windows. The ceiling in the formal dining space has a linear design that adds to the modern feel.

The kitchen has an eye-catching design with black cabinets and complementary warm-toned wood accents. It is open to a large living space that is divided by a double-sided fireplace.

The primary suite has a coffee bar, its own laundry room and a large bedroom with ample space for a sitting area and access to the back patio through French doors. Of the four remaining bedrooms, three have en suite bathrooms and the fourth shares a bathroom with the exercise or bonus room.

Outside, the home has a pool and a spa. The property also has attached garage space that will fit three cars. The home has a large circular driveway that Nadia Fakih said gives the home a stately look as you drive up and added ease when entertaining a large group.

The Dallas home at 5603 Dittmar Place is on the market for $2,500,000 listed by Nadia Fakih and Sarah Fakih of Compass.
